This year has been a lot. Things are tough for many of us, with the uncertainty of what's to come compounding the general feeling of worry. While the big things may be outside of our control, here are some small ways we'll be helping our customers, team and community this winter.
We'll be holding prices until 2023. Despite material costs going up, and increased overheads, we've thankfully been able to make savings in other areas. In autumn of 2021, for example, we completely redesigned our pouring method, making it significantly more time efficient. We've also seen some cardboard and packaging costs decrease this year, now that the online ordering boom caused by Covid has passed. These steps, combined with the ingenious thinking of our candle crew on a daily basis, mean we can hold our pricing until at least early 2023.
Mystery Boxes will be dropping soon! These lucky-dip boxes of candles, homewares, stationery and luxury chocolate sell at less than 50% of their retail value. They're a great way of stocking up your candle stash or present drawer. If you're keen to try new scents, or want to bag some gifts at a snip, you'll want to order a Mystery Box. Find us on Instagram and keep an eye out for their release date.
Demand for Mystery Boxes always outstrips supply but we’ll be making as many as possible.
We'll be donating £10 for each Peace & Love At Christmas Gift Box sold to The Trussell Trust via Work For Good. By choosing this gift box you'll be sending £10 directly towards a nationwide network of food banks in the UK. Your recipient will find a bit of everything in their box, and you pick the scent of candle and reed diffuser, making it personal to their tastes.
Gifts for all budgets. Affordability is a big one for us here so we'll be working hard to offer beautiful presents at great prices. Whether it's boxes of 12 scented tealights for under £10, or locally made decorations for their tree, shopping independent doesn't have to cost more than the household names.
Our Christmas windows are going to be all about showing passers-by that we’ve got lots to offer, with collections under £15 and £25. Every item will have a story behind it and aims to offer quality, style and function. You'll also be able to browse for gifts within your budget online and enjoy free UK delivery when you spend over £50.
The free candles budget for our crew has doubled each month, meaning they can tick a few gifts off the list. We're also constantly reviewing pay and perks in an effort to try and tackle spiralling inflation.
Emergency gifts, on the house. We're hoping to offer a small number of free gifts to those who need something to give a loved one this Christmas. The details haven't been ironed-out just yet, but we’d hope that local folks could come in to the shop and pick up a gift for free, no questions asked. More details soon.
