Jack Darley from Woodshop 51 has made this exclusive collection of sycamore chopping boards from his Dorset workshop.
We chatted with Jack about our love of original French chopping boards and together we cooked up a plan to create new versions for use in a modern, busy kitchen. The French originals have beautiful handles, shapes and hanging holes - all of which we've carried through to these three forms.
Jack's sourced English sycamore which is known for its closed grain, pale colour and durability. It's also naturally antimicrobial - making it ideal for chopping boards. We hope that you'll love and use these boards, starting them on their way to becoming heirloom pieces that can be handed down a family.
Each shape has a large version, ideal for chopping lots of veggies or slicing bread, as well as a smaller sibling which is ideal for slicing cheese or preparing fruit.
We'd advise hand-washing these boards to keep them in best condition. Hot soapy water and a firm scrub will clean them perfectly. If you'd like to give them a deep refresh, scrub salt in to the faces of the board with lemon juice and rinse thoroughly.
